Scenic View Is under You

46 miles in length and around 10 miles wide make a great tour. Santa Monica Mountains are the only mountain range in the world that divides a city into parts. Landmarks such as the Santa Monica pier and the Hollywood sign are located within this mountain range. They are the main target of many tourists. Nothing says "Southern California" like the beaches of Santa Monica. As the filming location for the most watched television series of all time, Baywatch, Santa Monica's sandy pathways have been forever etched into the memories of millions of people. Though Santa Monica is a classic beach town, it is also unique in the seemingly European layout and architecture which can delight multiple tourists. With the healthy California lifestyle in mind, this beautiful city is charmingly situated in only 8.3 square miles, allowing tourists the option of walking to nearly everything and making short tours. Over 26 miles of gorgeous coastline, balmy temperatures, Santa Monica Pier—the West Coast's oldest pier, wide sand beach, Third Street Promenade and Palisades Park make Santa Monica, California a popular ocean resort for million tourists year over year. Founded in 1875, the City of Santa Monica was meant to become the shipping port of Los Angeles. At the Santa Monica Historical Society Museum tourists can find out how Santa Monica has become to be known as "Paradise by the Sea" for both locals and travelers from around the world. More than 65 museums and galleries, public murals and sculpture make everyone explore Santa Monica as an art paradise. California Heritage Museum is both a historic house—official city landmark built in 1894—and an exhibition of California's diverse cultural riches. The panorama on the right was taken looking north and west toward the Santa Monica Mountains from the end of the Santa Monica Pier at the foot of Colorado Street. Santa Monica Pier also marks the end of historic Route 66 of TV fame. Local parks in the Santa Monica Mountains include Griffith Park and Coldwater Canyon Park (Tree People) in the City of Los Angeles and Charmlee County Park in Malibu. This is also a great tour for tourists. A few Santa Monica Mountains parks can be reached right off the busy boulevards of Los Angeles. People who live in Malibu or L.A. are passionate about this place; they are too close to (27 miles) holy scenic view.
